SHILLONG: The poll preparedness for the Meghalaya Assembly elections was reviewed on Wednesday by IG, CRPF, Prakash D along with Frederick Roy Kharkongor, Chief Electoral Officer.
Various issues such as induction of central forces, area domination exercise, confidence building measures, providing basic amenities for the forces and other issues were discussed.
The state police department was represented by Inspector General of Police H. Nongpluh, officials from election department and others also participated in the discussions.
20 companies of central para military forces have already arrived for area domination and also to be deployed in sensitive areas.
The forces have been asked to visit polling stations and it was emphasized that proper communication channels should be maintained so that reaction time is reduced to the minimum.
