TURA: The infighting in the BJP ranks just doesn’t seem to go away with yet another party leader  in the Garo Hills stepping down after being denied ticket to contest the February 27 polls in the state.

Aspiring party candidate and Mahila leader from Dalu (Barengapara) constituency, Moromi K Marak, tendered her resignation to BJP state president Shibun Lyngdoh in protest against the decision of the party to nominate sitting GHADC MDC Kurosh Marak.

Marak is the second advocate to quit the BJP over the ticket allocations. A day earlier, Williamnagar lawyer Jan Arengh had also marched off with a sizeable number of party workers and supporters after the ticket was allotted to retired MCS officer Santosh R Marak.

“I worked tirelessly to build up the party in the Garo Hills and successfully formed mandal committees of the Yuva, Mahila and Kissan Morchas in Dalu constituency. Inspite of all my efforts I was denied the party ticket to contest the polls,” said Moromi Marak in her resignation letter.

Prior to her resignation she was the vice president of the BJP’s Mahila Morcha in the state.

Her stepping down has triggered a spate of resignations in Dalu constituency with members of different morchas, booth level units and village committees of the party walking away with her. She is expected to contest the elections as an Independent candidate.
