SHILLONG: BJP central leaders Ram Lal and Nalin Kohli, who chaired an internal meeting of the party in the city, hoped that the party would be able to form governments in Meghalaya, Tripura and Nagaland.
Lal, the BJP national general secretary in-charge organisation, told reporters that the party was confident to effect a change in the three northeastern states.
According to Kohli, besides Meghalaya, the party will perform well in Tripura and Nagaland.
He said the matters related to election preparation were discussed during the meeting.
Kohli said chances of BJP in Meghalaya are brighter since the Congress has no agenda to fight other than engaging in false propaganda.
He added that the Congress is not bothered to fight the polls on its performances.
‘Visa issue politicised’
To a question on the rejection of visa to the Baptist church leader, Kohli said the BJP does not decide on how the visa is granted.
“Every country follows its own visa rules and as far as India is concerned, the rule was framed by the Congress government in the past,” he said, adding that the rules are followed irrespective of religious affiliations.
According to Kohli, the issue was given a political colour by the Congress and termed it as unfortunate to drag the church into politics.
