SHILLONG:  The Nationalist Congress party (NCP) which has fielded candidates in 21 seats is quite optimistic that the party would win at least  10-15  seats in the upcoming polls.

Gupta, meanwhile, stressed that the youth need to be provided with a platform even as he lamented that   the youth have been used as instrument by the politicians especially during elections.

Underlining that unemployment is increasing in the state, he said that it was important to make  of youth aware of their power.

He said that he would focus on providing skill development   training to the youth besides encouraging them for taking to  the sports

“I have seen many youth who are graduate but they are still working as labourer  because youth have not been taken care of,” he said.

Asserting that the giant MLAs of the constituency for the past many years have not done much for the  constituency as it did not have many basic facilities like   proper public toilet, drinking water facilities like water ATM for common   people. He also said that the public distribution system in the constituency needed be streamlined.

It may be mentioned that the South Shillong constituency is witnessing  a multi-cornered contest between BJP’s Sanbor Shullai, Congress’ Manas Chaudhuri, NPP’s Sounder Cajee, NCP’s Vikash Gupta and  RPI’s  Moon Lyngdoh.
