RTI reveals distribution of benefits of govt schemes in Pynthorumkhrah LAC

SHILLONG: A resident of Langkyrding-Nongmynsong, under Pynthorumkhrah constituency, Teiborlang Warjri through an RTI sought information from the office of the C & RD Mylliem Block on the distribution of benefits under various schemes and beneficiaries for the year 2008-2017, i.e. 9 years.

In a media press issued here, Warjri stated that as per the RTI revelation, AL Hek, the former MLA of Pynthorumkhrah, had bought CGI sheets (tin) 6700 bundles at the rate of Rs 4000, Rs 4779, Rs 5000 per bundle. The total amount comes to Rs 3, 12, 67, 400.

It also revealed that Hek purchased sports materials, trophies etc., which came to a total of Rs 69, 00, 000 and distributed to the clubs and different groups.

He also bought 780 sewing machines at the rate of Rs 5000, Rs 6000, Rs 7000. The total comes to Rs 47, 50, 000.

Public Announcement  system, chairs, traditional trophies, traditional music etc., were also purchased by Hek at the rate of Rs 41, 10, 000.

Serving a one-week deadline to Hek and two of the functionaries of Pynthorumkhrah Development Committee (PDC), B E Khyriem and B Kharmutee , Warjri asked them on the date of formation of PDC and the full-fledged members of the PDC from the year 2008 till 2017.

Warjri questioned whether PDC is a ghost organisation. When contacted, he said that most of the distribution of schemes is through the PDC.

Further, in the statement, Warjri alleged that Khyriem who is the secretary of the PDC withdrew Rs 9,22, 50, 000 and Kharmutee who is the member of the PDC withdrew Rs 1, 91, 50, 000.

Warjri also sought information on the names of the beneficiaries/clubs/groups of the schemes for all the 9 years as per the RTI report.
