SHILLONG: BJP national spokesperson Nalin Kohli said state president Shibun Lyngdoh acted in the highest spirit of the party by following its ideology even in allotting ticket to his sister Violet Lyngdoh.
“My sister has worked for the party but he party felt that the candidate, Justine Dkhar, is far better than her so he got the ticket. As state president I am happy that the party has taken the right decision,” he told reporters on Tuesday.
On this, Kohli said, “For Congress it is Apna vikaas and apno ka vikaas.”
Commenting on the resignation of BJP member Edward Kharwanlang, Lyngdoh said, “It is good for the party that he left as he was working backdoor to support the other candidate, I hope Manas Chaudhuri. We were in the process to sack him but fortunately he resigned.”
He informed that Kharwanlang talked to him about the party ticket but he was told that if the ticket would not be given to him, he should support the candidate.
Kohli downplayed the exodus from the BJP stating that the resignation is never a loss to the party.
On links with the National People’s Party and other regional parties, Lyngdoh reiterated that the party is contesting the elections against the NPP and other regional parties.
