Control room
In view of the upcoming Legislative Assembly Election, West Jaintia Hills SP, DSB, Jowai has informed that the office has set up a control room for the general public to lodged complaint if any related to election and violation of Model Code of Conduct. Sunil Kumar Naik, Police Observer for 1-Nartiang, 2- Jowai, 3- Raliang, 4- Mowkaiaw and 7- Amlarem Assembly Constituencies arrived in Jowai and will station at Circuit House.
Local holiday
The North Garo HIlls DC has declared a local holiday on February 27 for Government offices, Magisterial courts, Revenue, Educational institutions in the district to enable people to exercise their Universal Adult Franchise in the upcoming State’s Legislative Assembly Election.
Exam postponed
The Principal, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Niangbari, Ri Bhoi District has informed that the entrance exam of JNVST, which was scheduled to be held on April 8, has been postponed to April 21 due to unavoidable circumstances. Parents and guardians are requested to bring their children and wards on the date as mentioned above for the exam.
Dry Days
With a view of ensuring free, fair and peaceful conduct of the General Election, the DC (Excise) West Khasi Hills, District, Nongstoin, has declared dry days in the District from February 26 to 27 (Poll Day) and on March 3 (Counting of votes day). The DC has ordered all liquor shops/IMFL shops/bar hotels/canteen/C.A. bars/C .S. shops, out stills/bonded warehouse to remain closed on the above mentioned dates.
Foundation day
Assam Sonatan Dharma Sabha, Laitumkhrah will celebrate its 18th Pratistha (foundation) day of Sri Sri Sarbamangala Kali Temple at its premises from 9 am on February 22.
