Los Angeles: Braveheart star Mel Gibson’s divorce is finalised in time for Christmas when a judge signs a decree with estranged wife Robyn Moore.

There is no prenuptial agreement between the couple, who were married for 28 years before officially separating in 2006, but a deal is believed to have been struck between the pair, reported TMZ online.

Moore, who has six sons and one daughter with the 55-year-old Hollywood actor, filed for a legal separation in April 2009 citing “irreconcilable differences” as a reason for ending their marriage.

Earlier this month, Gibson won praise from Judge Stephanie Sautner, who is overseeing his battery case against former girlfriend Oksana Grigoreiva after he completed double the amount of anger management and domestic violence counselling he was required to undertake.

The star has pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery against his ex-girlfriend, with whom he has two-year-old daughter Lucia and is currently on informal probation.

In March, Gibson was sentenced to a year-long domestic violence counselling programme over the incident, which occurred in January 2010, and he was also served with a protective order not to “threaten or harass anyone involved in the case”. (PTI)
