Congressmen deny hand in arson incident

SHILLONG: Congress members from Nartiang unit of Lapangngap, West Jaintia Hills, maintained that they were not involved in the alleged arson huts of some National People’s Party (NPP) supporter on Tuesday night.

Addressing reporters on Friday, Deimonmi Lyngdoh said, “It is their family matters. On the part of the Congress, we have nothing to do with it.”

He said that the house owner, Tilda Dkhar, was in an inebriated state when they went to check the burning house.

“When we went to check on the house, we found that the materials in the house were kept aside. We found that she was drunk along with other accomplices,” Deimonmi said.

Later, he said that Dkhar’s husband, Alias Lyngdoh, is a supporter of Congress. Deimonmi said that even the headman and VDP were not aware of the incident.
