SHILLONG: The state Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) has released its vision document on Tuesday. The LJP is fielding only one candidate from the state, Donlang Nongbri from Mawlai constituency.
In a press statement, the LJP stated that it would take up the issue of Village Administration Bill, and demand from the State/Central Governments to protect and preserve the indigenous customs, culture and tradition of the people of Meghalaya.
In its vision documents, the LJP focuses on overall development, address employment and poverty, farmer welfare, to ensure that National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the state.
The LJP has assured that it will take up the issue of influx and added that it would not hesitate to support the demand for introduction of Inner Line Permit (ILP), if needed, demand the inclusion of Khasi, Jaintia and Garo languages in the Eight Schedule of the Constitution.
The party said that it would persuade the State Government to initiate peace negotiations with the militant outfits existing in the State and to pursue boundary dispute between Assam and Meghalaya.
With regard to social issues, the LJP also pointed to job reservation in private sector, 33 per cent reservation for women, free education, it will take up the issue of setting up of medical and engineering colleges with the state government,
The state LJP stated that it wouldcome out with a concrete mining policy in view of the NGT ban in the state and also a housing policy and to persuade the Government to provide house to every homeless family.
It may be mentioned that the party had earlier contested two Assembly elections in the state , one in 2008 where it fielded 18 candidates and second in the year 2013, where it fielded four candidates.
