Four arrested for murder of trader in Guwahati city, weapon recovered

GUWAHATI:  The city police have arrested four criminals involved in the murder of a city-based business at busy Hatigaon area in the city on Wednesday night and recovered the murder weapon and a portion of the cash looted by the slain businessman.

City police commissioner, Hiren Nath informed that police have so far arrested Nur Alam, Safiqul Islam, Mukuta Das and Ramesh Yadav in connection with the murder of businessman Hemant Chousaria. The police also recovered the 9 mm pistol used to kill the businessman along with four live cartridges from Safiqul Islam who fired the shot that killed the businessman. Police also recovered Rs one lakh out of the Rs 4.06 lakh snatched by the businessman by the assailants.

The plan to murder the businessman and loot him was hatched by Nur Alam and Mukuta Das who hired sharp shooter Safiqul Islam to execute the plan. Mukuta Das had procured the 9 mm pistol from Dimapur with the help of Ramesh Yadav. Police are on the look-out for three more persons involved in the crime.

The businessman who used own a grocery wholesale shop at Hatigaon main road used to walk home at night after closing to shop along with daily sales proceeds. The police officer said the trader had been trailed by Nur Alam and Mukuta Das for quite some time.

The murder took place within 50-meter distance from Hatigaon police station at around 8.30 P.M. on Wednesday
