SHILLONG: As the stage is set and the battle lines are drawn for the   Assembly polls on Tuesday, the flying squads and Static Surveillance team   have seized more than Rs one crore in the run up to the Assembly polls in the entire state.

Chief Electoral Officer, FR Kharkongor informed that apart from cash, more than 30,000 litres of liquor were also seized during the period.

On Monday morning, the Flying squad also seized Rs 38.67 lakhs from a vehicle at Lad Smit. The vehicle belongs to one L Lamare.

Meanwhile, the polling officers along with their polling materials have started reaching their respective polling stations and majority of the poll officers left for their respective polling stations on Monday.

Minus the Williamngar constituency where the polling has been adjourned due to the death of the NCP candidate, Johnathone Sangma, the total number of voters, who are expected to exercise their franchise during polls is 18,09,818.

Kharkongor also informed that altogether 361 candidates are in the fray.

The state has witnessed aggressive campaigning by all political parties and the campaigning this time was more or less focused on mudslinging on each other rather than highlighting their promises and vision for the State.
