Bandipora gunfight: LeT militant killed is Pakistani national

Srinagar, Feb 27 (IANS) The militant killed a day ago in the Jammu and Kashmir gunfight in Bandipora district, has been identified as a Pakistani national of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit, army said on Tuesday.

“One Pakistani terrorist, injured in yesterday’s (Monday) joint operation by the Army, Central Reserve Police Force and the state police was found dead today (Tuesday) in Khosh Mohalla in Hajin,” Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said.

The brief gunfight had taken place in Bon Mohalla following which a civilian protest had broken out in the area.

Taking advantage of the clashes between the civilians and security forces, the hiding militants had managed to escape. The injured militant was found dead on Tuesday.
