About 47 % vote in Meghalaya till 3 PM

SHILLONG: Meghalaya recorded 46.83 per cent poling till 3 P.M. according to the state’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), F R Kharkongor.

Meghalaya Governor, Ganga Prasad before exercising his franchise at Polling Station number 4-MTDC Office (North Wing) of 17-North Shillong Assembly Constituency on Tuesday.

Polling stated in the state at 7 A.M. and have been going on smoothly under tight security sans any hitch barring few cases of EVM malfunctioning in morning hours at different polling stations. However, timing of the polling in such polling stations have been extended because of the delay caused by EVM malfunctioning.

Polling is being held in 59 constituencies out of the total 60 constituencies in the state after polls had to be put off in Williamnagar constituency because of killing of the NCP candidate Jonathone N Sangma.

Polling is being held in 3015 booths including 66 all-women booths.  There 580 polling stations branded vulnerable while 340 polling stations have been marked as critical. Total 361 candidates including 31 women in the fray in Tuesday polling.
