SHILLONG: The final overall voter turnout in February 27 Assembly polls in Meghalaya has been recorded at 84.86 percent as on date.
Informing this here on Wednesday, Chief Electoral Officer, FR Kharkongor said that the figure stands for 59 Assembly constituencies since polling in Williamangar has been adjourned.
“These figures do not include the postal ballot and the polling in Kyndong Tuber polling station in Raliang constituency where the polling was stopped even as he added that there might be a re-polling in the particular polling station based on the directives of the Election Commission.
He said that the re-polling might be held on Thursday depending on the order of the Election Commission.
In the 2013 Assembly polls, the voters turnout in the state out was 86.82 percent.
“The turnout was healthy and we might have equaled the last Assembly polls or may be even more than that,” Kharkongor told reporters
Mokaiaw was constituency where the voters turnout was the highest at 93.21 per cent whereas voting was recorded the lowest in North Shillong with 60.79 percent.
Female voters outnumbered male voters with a percentage of 86.30 whereas male voters turnout was 83.40
As far as districts are concerned, the South West Garo Hills recorded the highest voters turnout of 91.15 per cent while South West Khasi Hills recorded the lowest voters turnout
