Money power worries Shylla

SHILLONG: With money power playing a vital role during elections, and a seizure of huge amount of cash from different parts of the state during the recently concluded elections in the state, National People’s Party HS Shylla has voiced his concerned over the issue of distributing cash during elections which he said has increased.
Shylla said in a statement that the Election Commission should target the menace of cash for voters to bring about free and fair elections. A strong network of volunteer should be appointed in every nook and corner of the state to alert the EC about any malpractice, he added.
Shylla who contested the elections from Nongkrem constituency also said that all government schemes should end one year before the elections to ensure that the cash does not become pocket money schemes.
