SHILLONG: The national electronic and print media representatives, who were here in the city for covering the Government formation, are all over the news for wrong reasons.
The media persons, who made a beeline to Shillong, crossed all limits of passion while covering the political situation in the state.
On Sunday, a group of media persons representing different national news channels and newspapers descended at the residence of Donkupar Roy and they were more inclined towards pushing and pulling each other rather than interviewing the political leaders.
The erratic behaviour of some of the representatives of the national media even led to arguments with the local media, when the regional media representatives urged them to discharge their duties in professional way.
There was an instance when national media persons in scores pushed and pulled even the security cordon of former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma when he came to meet Donkupar Roy on Sunday.
Their sudden jump on the political leaders could have resulted in the injury of some of the media persons.
In addition, the ‘arrogance’ of the national media persons have gone viral on social media when a woman journalist dashed against senior leader Prestone Tynsong while he was engaged in an interview with local media persons.
The lady journalist did not even bother to say sorry.
Similarly, a male journalist from a national electronic media was seen pushing and pulling others in his bid to speak to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.
There was another journalist, who was constantly bugging new chief minister Conrad Sangma to look only at his camera while responding to queries of media persons.
