SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills administration is likely to order an inquiry into Umniuh Tmar Iarbiniaw Dorbar Shnong’s decision to ostracize two families for filing an FIR against the village council authorities.
Indicating this, the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Jopthiaw Lyngdoh on Wednesday said, “We will take up the matter after the holidays.”
“How can we allow such things to happen,” he said.
The two families of K Mawkhlieng and R. Khongtiang were ostracized after the CSWO filed an FIR against the village council authorities on behalf of two job card holders under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) whose signatures were allegedly by the council secretary.
According to Lyngdoh, based on the findings of the inquiry action will be taken.
As per the FIR lodged by the CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing, the secretary of the village employment council of Umniuh, Iarbiniaw Lemon Khongpliar had allegedly forged signatures of two job card holders — K Mawkhlieng and R. Khongtiang — to avail their wages.
Mawkhlieng had worked for only 14 days in 2009-10 and 38 days in 2010-11, but the register shows that wages for all 140 days of work had been paid.
Meanwhile, the CSWO has decided to take up the matter with the National Commission for Scheduled Tribe and the East Khasi Hills administration.
“We will also move the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) as the headman in question falls under its jurisdiction,” Kharshiing added.
