SHILLONG: In an attempt to rein in drink and rash driving particularly on the New Year eve, the State Police will carry out a special drive on the night of December 31 in various parts of the city.
Informing this here on Wednesday, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police AR Mawthoh said number accidents took place in the past due to rash and drink driving.
To prevent its reoccurrence, Mawthoh said the traffic personnel would be deployed in the city road on the night of December 31 to check this menace.
“The traffic personnel have been authorized take stringent action against the guilty,” the SP said.
‘We have drawn out a plan for December 31 to ensure that there is strict adherence to traffic rules and the details cannot be divulged,” Mawthoh said.
