Former Govt official dies in road mishap; four hurt

 SHILLONG: Former De-puty Director of Directorate of Information and Public Relation (DIPR) Shiningstar Laloo was killed and four others, including a motorcyclist, were seriously injured in a road mishap in the State on Wednesday.

Laloo died on the spot after his car (Alto–ML 04 A 7856) was hit by an empty truck (AS 01 1653) at Mawlyndep under Sohryngkham police station in East Khasi Hills district.

Laloo was on his way to Shillong from Jowai and the truck was coming from the opposite direction.

The truck hit the Alto as it was trying to overtake another vehicle in front of the ill-fated car, which on impact hit the motorcycle coming from behind.

”The driver of the truck fled from the scene after the accident,” police said.

The injured motor cyclist has been identified as Cherak Ch Sangma.

Laloo’s driver Riang Challam sustained serious injuries.

Two other injured are Lami Pde (45) and her daughter Wansatre Pde (16). Both were trevelling in the ill-fated car.

All the injured have been shifted to Woodland Hospital, here.
