TURA: Members of the Federation for A’chik Freedom (FAF) in Bajengdoba of North Garo Hills have seized a consignment of cattle allegedly meant to be smuggled out to neighbouring Bangladesh on Thursday morning.

The cattle numbering 15 which were being transported in a truck with Assam registration number- AS-17 B 4299 was intercepted by the federation at Kosichora village along NH-51 at around 9 am and detained.

Further interrogation of the occupants revealed that the cattle were being transported without any valid documents.

“We suspect that the cattle were en-route to Bangladesh as neither the driver nor his associates could provide any valid documents to confirm the destination,” the federation said.

An FIR has been filed against the driver and his accomplices and the federation has urged police carry out a full investigation.
