GUWAHATI: “Hindi is not imposed on us but have been willingly adopted by the people of the state,” said Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein of the frontier state of Arunachal Pradesh while attending in the first ever Rajya Hindi Sammelan at Late Dorjee Khandu Conventional Hall at Itanagar on Saturday.
Arunachal Hindi Sansthan (AHS), an NGO working for the promotion of Hindi language and Devanagri script in the State is organising the Sammelan.
He lauded the efforts of Arunachal Hindi Sanstha working for the promotion of Hindi Language – Raj Bhasha in the state and to connect with the mainland India.
The deputy chief minister said that there were many tribal dialects in the state which were on the verge of extinction and many had become endangered and appealed the younger generation not to lose and forget their own mother tongue and local dialects but to preserve and promote them besides learning Hindi or English which is very essential in the pursuits of one’s career.
He said that among the north-eastern states, Arunachal is the only state where young to old or people residing in villagers or towns feel proud to speak in Hindi. What is most important is that despite varied dialects in the state, Hindi was commonly understood by all and express their feeling in Hindi. Taking the opportunity, he also thanked the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minster for allocating fund in last year budget 2017-18 for promotion and development of Hindi language in the state.
