SHILLONG: The Advocate General (AG), BP Todi, has recently resigned from the post after finding it inappropriate to continue after the new government was formed.
An official source said on Saturday that his resignation came after finding that there were several applicants for the post.
It was during the tenure of the Congress-led MUA government that Todi was appointed.
Sources said Todi continues to be in office as there should not be any vacuum till the appointment of the new AG.
Todi submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and this will have to be accepted by the governor.
Todi had headed several committees on matters related to revenue generation.
Pressure groups have been demanding locals as attorney general and additional attorney general.
