TURA: The East Garo Hills police have on Friday unearthed another hideout containing explosive items buried deep underground by the GNLA in the Durama Hills across Simsang river, close to district headquarters Williamnagar.
The cache of explosive items recovered is the third consignment seized by police in the last one week in the district forests.
The latest recovery took place in Nengmandalgre village, close to Williamnagar and separated only by the Simsang river.
Police teams scanned the forests in and around Nengmandalgre and found the hidden consignment containing 6 powerful remote control devices that are used for triggering IED explosions without the use of wires, as many as 30 remote detonator circuits, a wireless handset, 5 GNLA seals and four packets of letter pads belonging to the outfit.
A few days ago Williamnagar police had unearthed around two dozen pistols, explosive materials including Claymore IED cases and bulletproof body armour concealed by slain GNLA chief Sohan D Shira in another part of the forest between Nengmandalgre and Sasatgre villages.
