n a moment of pride not only the state, but the country as a whole, Matsiewdor War Nongbri, Officer on Special Duty of Cooperation Department and president of the Meghalaya Archery Association was selected as one of the judges for the 2012 London Olympics.

An ace archer by her own right, her selection to officiate in the Olympics gave the state something to cheer about after Meghalaya’s dismal show in the 34th National Junior Archery Championships(December 5-8) where the local archers failed to win a single medal.

Nongbri also became the only Indian official to be selected as a judge for the mega event.

“I think it’s a golden opportunity for me and I am glad to to represent my state and country in the international arena, especially in the Olympics,” Nongbri said after the confirmation of her selection.

“I hope I have been able to make the people of the state happy by my selection,” she added.

Nongbri had also brought laurels to the state in the past through her stint as a FITA International Judge at the World Games held in Germany in 2005, FITA INternational Judge at the Archery World Cup and the EMAU Grand Prix in England in 2006.

Apart from these, she was also selected as Chairman of Judges at the 1st South Asian Archery Federation Championships in Bangladesh in 2006 and the 10th South Asian Games at Colombo also in 2006.
