Rally against rape and murder of Asifa, crimes against children in Tura tomorrow

TURA: The Bakdil, Childline in Tura while strongly condemning the recent rape and murder of Asifa, an 8-year-old minority girl from Jammu and Kashmir, including other child victims of violence from different parts of the country and the state, has decided to hold a silent protest rally tomorrow in Tura.

The protest rally which will begin from 10:30 am will commence from Tura Chandmary Playground to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and back to the starting venue.

A Childline official informed that students from St Xavier’s School, Mother Angeles Secondary School, Wadanang Secondary School, Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School and Mothers’ Union Secondary School will join Bakdil, Childline and be a part of the rally.

“This rally is for the justice of rape and murder of Asifa and to show our united stand against the rape, abuse and murder. It is high time that citizens wake up and speak out against these crimes that are happening in our society every day. Garo Hills will stand together and be a part of this silent protest rally, which will serve as a platform to speak up about our rights to live peacefully and to protect our women from violence,” the official said.
