TURA: The election of office bearers to the Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Rongjeng Regional Unit will be held on May 4, a decision to the effect of which was taken in a meeting held among students of various schools from the area on Monday.

The meeting held at the Rongjeng United Higher Secondary School was attended by students from various schools including the Tamring Memorial Secondary School, Government Secondary School and Vivian’s Vivid Academy.

The regional unit which is in opposition against the recent alleged dissolution by the Tengsak-led GSU CEC has resolved not to recognise the union’s leaders either from the Tengsak faction or the interim body led Zikku Balgra N Marak.

According to the unit, the Election Commissioner to conduct the election will be selected by representatives of various schools in consultation with the former GSU leaders from Rongjeng.

The unit also gave out a strong warning that it would resort to mass students’ rally if any GSU leaders interfere with its election in Rongjeng.
