SHILLONG: Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma has assured the deficit teachers a final decision whether they should be included in the 5th Pay Commission or not would be intimated to them within 10 -days.
Conrad Sangma made the assurance to a delegation of Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association, which met him here on Friday to urge upon the Government to include the deficit teachers under the 5th Pay Commission.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, president of the Association, ED Nongsiang said that the deficit teachers were included in the previous Pay Commissions and even members of the 5th Pay Commission which met them had recommended for their inclusion in the new pay revision.
During the meeting, the deficit teachers also discussed about the much-delayed education policy and the Chief Minister told the delegation that the draft of the policy would be in public domain within two months for suggestions and views.
Expressing happiness with the outcome of the meeting, Nongsiang lamented that the service rules for the deficit teachers have been prepared by the department but it is yet to be made known to the teachers.
Expressing concern over the high price of some MBOSE books, the delegation also said that they would like to be part of the MBOSE for suggestions.
According to Nongsiang, Chief Minister also informed the delegation that MBOSE would soon have a full-fledged chairman
Different issues like provincialisation of services and pension benefits of deficit teachers were also discussed in the meeting.
The deficit teachers met the Chief Minister after the deficit teachers had expressed their unhappiness over the outcome of the previous meeting with the Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui.
