India seeks report on Brahmaputra ‘diversion’

New Delhi: India has asked its Embassy in China about reports that the neighbour was planning to divert the Brahmaputra river from its upper reaches to take water to its drought-hit northwestern areas. External Affairs Minister SM Krishna told reporters here on Monday that the government was trying to get more details both from the government and from the Indian Mission in Beijing. “We will take appropriate steps after we make an assessment of the report,” he said.
