London:  Star forward Eden Hazard has indicated that he will stay on at Chelsea only if the former English Premier League (EPL) champions build a squad strong enough to challenge for titles next season.
The 27-year-old Belgium international has reportedly been given an offer of around £300,000 ($4,04,561) a week for a new contract.
But Hazard, who has been linked with a possible move to Real Madrid, is aware that his next contract will possibly be the last in his prime and wants to take his time before taking a decision.
“That’s why I’m taking my time. It’s something big, so I need to think about a lot of things. But one thing is for sure: I’m happy here,” Hazard was quoted as saying by the Guardian on Tuesday.
The attacking midfielder, who has scored 21 times in 82 international appearances for Belgium, wants Chelsea to buy more quality players and build a squad strong enough to challenge for the EPL title next season.
“I’m waiting for new players next season. I want good players, because I want to win the Premier League next season,” Hazard said.
“Like I’ve said many times before, I think the FA Cup final is not my last game for Chelsea. It’s the last game of the season, that’s it. After the World Cup then we will be ready for the next season. But, for me in my mind, I’m here. I have one week to play now. Saturday is a massive game, I just want to win, for me and them also,” he added.(IANS)
