31 persons hurt in bus mishap

TURA: A truck full of people capsized at Rongram area, 13 kms towards Tura, injuring 31 persons after the weekly bazar on Friday afternoon.

A truck full of traders from Assam’s Mankachar town, truck number bearing number ML-08A 7886, lost control during taking of sharp turn near Goeragre village and overturned on its wheels injuring 31 of its passengers.

The truck, a 709 ini truck, was speeding it is reported by authorities and eye witnesses at the scene of the incident. Among 31 passengers who were injured two of them, Mohinur Islam (30 yrs) and Asu Mia (45), are serious with injuries to rib cage, lungs, hand and leg fractures and are admitted to Tura Civil Hospital.

All the injured passengers are originating from Kakripara village of Mankachar in Dhubri district in Assam.

Most of the other passengers have been let off with first aid by doctors and nurses from Tura Civil Hospital.

The Assam traders come every week to Rongram bazar on a Friday to sell their food and other items in the weekly market and on the same day head towards Tura for the Nazing Bazar weekly market on Saturday before going back to Mankachar.
