SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Mairang circle and HYC Umpdem unit found the health sub-centre at Umpdem village in West Khasi Hills locked with no staff attending duty.
The organisation interacted with villagers who told them that the staff visit the sub-centre once a week and locals have to walk for two hours to get medicines.
In a statement issued here, the organisation said it will meet the higher authorities to demand punitive action against the staff.
Besides, HYC said the 3-4 km PMGSY road from Sohdadek to Umpdem is in a dilapidated condition and urged the authorities to look into the matter.
