GUWAHATI: Forty-year-old mountaineer from Arunachal Pradesh, Muri Linngi, mother of four daughters, has scaled the Mount Everest, the summit of the world. She achieved the feat in the morning of May 14, according to information provided by Arunachal Pradesh government.

Her expedition was flagged off on March 5 last by Rajya Sabha from Arunachal Pradesh member Mukut Mithi in Roing, the district headquarters of Lower Dibang Valley district.

She started from Roing to Kathmandu on April 7 and started her expedition to Mount Everest on April 12 from Lukla. She reached the base camp on April 20.

However, it was not smooth sailing for Muri Linggi as her attempts to advance forward was foiled due to inclement weather.

She started for Mount Everest again on May 10. After four days of trekking, both at day and night time, she reached the top of the peak on April 14.

Linngi did her basic course in mountaineering from the National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Dirang in Arunachal Pradseh in 2013 and was a part of the women expedition team to climb Peak Menthosa in Lahaul and Spiti of Himachal Pradesh.

Later she completed her advanced mountaineering course from Darjeeling in 2016 and scaled the Gorichen Peak in October 2017.
