Hike in tourist taxi fare
JOWAI: The Jowai-Shillong Tourist Cab Association (JSTCA) has informed that the fare has been increased from Rs. 100 to Rs. 120 and has been implemented from Monday. The assocition said the decision to hike the fare was due to the increase in petrol and spare part price.

Postal strike
Shillong: In support of the indefinite strike called by the All India Postal Employees Union, the postal employees of the Assam and NE Circle will hold a mass demonstration from Tuesday by wearing black badges to achieve their demand for immediate implementation of positive report of Kamlesh Chandra and for the completion of verification of membership of GDS under check off system.

Unclaimed body
Shillong: One male, around 64 years old, was admitted in the male medical ward-I, Bed No. 86, Civil Hospital, Shillong on May 7 at 11.43 am. The patient expired on May 11. Relatives are requested to collect the body from the hospital morgue within a period of 3 days failing which the body will be sent for disposal by the Shillong Municipal Board. 

Peddler arrested
SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills district police has intensified its operations against drug syndicates operating the city. The ANTF along with Lumdiengjri PS apprehended Rishan Nongbet at Bara Bazar and recovered 56.875 kg of ganja from his possession on May 19.
