Seamless communication, emergency services ready for Ampati by-poll

SHILLONG: The IGP CRPF Prakash. D highlighted the medical and emergency facilities, seamless communication network to be established up to the Polling Booth level during the polling day in Ampati constituency on May 28.

An election review meeting was held on Thursday at the Circuit House in Ampati to review the election preparation for the by-election Assembly Poll.  This meeting was chaired by IGP CRPF Shillong Prakash. D, IPS, a statement said.

At the meeting, the security network to facilitate peaceful poll was discussed.  It was decided to instill confidence in the minds of the voters through area domination, route marches, flag marches, meetings etc. Though insurgency has been almost wiped out, forces have been asked to be on high alert regarding fringe elements.

The deployment of forces on the polling booths well before the poll-day was discussed. All the men were advised to adopt a voters-friendly approach. The IGP NES also visited some polling booths. Interactive sessions were held with the public too.

DIG CRPF Guwahati Range, J P K Ray, DIG Western Range Passi, Deputy Commissioner HDB Sangma, SP South West Garo Hills, Boby SW Momin, DSP Lingdoh, DSP South West Garo Hills Silvestor Marak and General Observer Hansraj Chauhan, IAS attended the meeting.

The meeting was also attended by the senior Officers of CRPF, BSF and SSB who have been entrusted with election duty.
