Assault
On May 23 around 11:25pm, one Bahdeng assaulted Kyashiaw L Monai and Melody L Monai at Laban. The victims were admitted at Civil Hospital in the city. The matter is now under investigation.
Accident
On May 20, one motorcycle (ML-08C-9452) ridden by Buneth Marak (40) met with an accident at Saptoka village in South West Garo Hills. The rider sustained injuries and was admitted at the Civil Hospital in Tura.
Fraud
Treibha Rymbai lodged a complaint stating that one Debashish Paul of Katakal Karimganj, Assam fraudulently used the complainant’s registered GS-TIN (Tax Service) and forged his signature and seal on documents without permission.
Shalamborlang Nohwir, assistant teacher of Dongthangriang LP School in South West Khasi Hills lodged a complaint stating that in 2016, he was terminated from his service by the school managing committee on an allegation that he tortured the students. The complainant alleged that his signature was forged in the resolution of the school meeting held on April 9, 2013.
One arrested for drug possession
On May 23 around 7:30pm, police arrested one Peter Lamare from Punjabi Lane, Iewmawlong and recovered four paper wrappers containing suspected heroin, Rs. 3,520 cash and two cell-phones from his possession.
Theft
On May 19 around 1:30pm, unknown miscreant(s) managed to flee with one cell-phone belonging to Md. Mustafa Ali from his shop at 4th Furlong.
