SHILLONG: The disbanded ANVC-B has once again expressed concern over non-implementation of the Agreed Text for Settlement, which was signed in 2014.
Former ANVC-B leader Bernard Marak said while state officials are not sincere in implementing the agreement in letter and spirit, the delaying of the settlement is further is going to make their ‘Historic Agreement’ into a joke.
“It aimed to strengthen the Autonomous District Councils but our efforts are made into a mockery. It is pathetic that GHADC is unable to pay the salaries of the employees for more than 15 months. The roads are in a miserable condition in Garo Hills. The wooden bridges which were supposed to be replaced by RCC bridges are unimplemented till now,” he said while adding that a truck recently fell off from the wooden bridge in Chokpot area in South Garo Hills.
According to him, the Civil Hospitals in Garo Hills are not in a position to be called government hospitals as most of the tests and medicines have to be done and acquired from private establishments.
“Even our members are yet to be included in the ministerial state level committee so that follow-up can be made in proper implementation of the Agreed Text and transfer of departments can be made to the GHADC,” he added.
Making it clear that they are not happy with the delay and negligence of the state government, he added that most of their cadres are yet to get their packages. “We were supposed to have a district level meeting every month but not even a single meeting was held,” he added.
