CRPF focuses on communications, emergency services

SHILLONG: CRPF IGP Prakash D drew the attention towards medical and emergency facilities and seamless communication network to be established up to the polling booth level in Ampati on May 28.
An election review meeting, chaired by the IGP, was held on Thursday at the Circuit House in Ampati to review preparations for the by-election.
The security network for a peaceful poll was discussed at the meeting. It was decided to instill confidence in voters by area domination, route and flag marches, meetings etc.
Though insurgency has been almost wiped out, forces are asked to be on high alert regarding fringe elements.
The deployment of forces in polling booths well before the poll day was discussed. All security personnel were advised to adopt a voter-friendly approach. The IGP NES also visited some booths where he interacted with the public.
JPK Ray, DIG CRPF Guwahati Range, DIG Western Range Passi, Deputy Commissioner HDB Sangma, SP South West Garo Hills Bobby SW Momin and General Observer Hansraj Chauhan, among others, attended the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by senior officers of CRPF, BSF and SSB who have been deployed for election duty.
