CSWO files assault charge against school principal

SHILLONG: CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing and a citizen Napoleon Mawphniang have filed an FIR against the principal of the St. George School , Nongmynsong Simon Joseph for allegedly beating a few students besides stalking an ex assistant teacher and a student.
The FIR filed by the two individuals with the Nongmynsong Police Station on Saturday said that one minor student staying in the hostel of the school was beaten by the principal in the hostel on Saturday by a stick. As per the FIR, few days back, two students of Class X and IV were also allegedly beaten up by the principal.
According to the FIR, the principal also stalked an ex- assistant teacher who taught in the school and he allegedly touched her inappropriately besides hugging her and making similar advances to a student.
The complainants in the FIR added that the students and the teacher could not complain earlier due to the fear and the influence of the principal and hence they finally sought the assistance of the two complainants.
All the victims who have been mentioned in the FIR were taken for medical examination to the Shillong Civil Hospital on Saturday.
Allegations denied
When contacted, Simon Joseph denied the allegations saying there is no corporal punishment in the school. He added that he does not know why such allegations have been made.
“May be they are taking an opportunity to poke their nose due to professional rivalry,” he said adding that he had only scolded a few students on Saturday due to Karate classes. When asked about the slur of making advances on a teacher and student, he said he does not know anything.
