Meghalaya approves 5th Pay commission benefits to deficit school teachers

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Government has approved the extension of 5th pay Commission to all the deficit school teachers in the state.

Director of Education on Friday gave a letter to the   Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association informing that the Department had approved extension of 5th pay Commission to all the deficit school teachers in the state.

The letter also said that the department was awaiting the approval of the cabinet on the matter and the cabinet meeting would be held shortly.

Following the communiqué from the State Government, the Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association and Garo Hills School Teachers and Employees Association withdrew their proposed agitations from Monday.

“We had a meeting on Sunday and it was unanimously decided to withdraw the agitations as we have received the letter,” KJDSTA president, ED Nongsiang said.

The two associations earlier had given the Meghalaya government a two-week deadline to implement the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission .The deadline would have ended on Sunday.

Earlier, the Associations was contemplating to wear black arm band on June 4 and 5 followed by a rally on June 6 in Shillong
