During his discussion with the AAI officials, Dr Sangma asked the Airport officials to submit all the details regarding development of the Airport within a week.

During the meeting, the AAI officials apprised the Chief Minister their need for an additional 50 acres of land for developing the apron, residential quarters and the refueling station

Out of the 50 acres of land required for the expansion, 32 acres of land falls under the Defence authorities.

The State Government has already forwarded a letter to the Union Ministry of Defence mentioning the need for the land.

During the meeting, Dr Sangma also agreed to construct the 2.3-kilometer road from Umroi village to the Airport.

Meanwhile, an AAI official informed that the Chief Minister has assured them that he would take up the matters relating to development of the Airport with the Union Ministry of DoNER.
