Nine municipal commissioners tender resignation

SHILLONG: The President, Baghmara Block Congress Committee, Parkin Arengh has informed that it has come to the notice of the Congress Party at Baghmara Block Level that nine municipal commissioners of the 12-members board of the Baghmara Municipality have tendered their resignation to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Baghmara Municipal Board (BMB) with a copy to the Deputy Commissioner, South Garo Hills, Baghmara citing that they have lost all faith and confidence in the present Chairman, BD Sangma.

“Under the present crisis in the board, it is mandatory as per the Municipal Act to either remove the present chairman by impeachment or dissolve the board at the earliest.

You are therefore requested to take necessary action in consultation with the Deputy Commissioner and intimation to the state government,” said Mr Arengh in his letter addressed to the CEO, BMB.

The ward commissioners who have resigned are Sukhina R Marak , Tharson R Marak, Tuntun R Marak , Seema N Sangma , Diana Sore N Marak , Roinilla R Sangma, Rokkime M Sangma , Dippinsono M Sangma and Premothy G Momin. T

The ward commissioners who have not resigned are Brenard D Sangma , Adarson A Sangma and Benjen Ch Sangma .
