SHILLONG: The first death anniversary of Major David Manlun of the 164th Infantry Battalion was observed at his residence here on Wednesday.
Manlun was martyred in an encounter with the ULFA and the NSCN(K) militants in Nagaland on June 6 last year.
The family members remembered the brave soldier on his first anniversary by visiting his grave and organising a prayer service at their residence in Happy Valley.
Manlun’s brother Siampu Manlun said the family wanted to build a house in the name of Major David Manlun to which the army had assured that the matter would be taken up with the state government but till now they have not received any response on the matter. Manlun was originally from Churachandpur district in Manipur, but was born and brought up in Shillong.
