11 CRPF men felicitated for effective mob control during Shillong violence

SHILLONG: CRPF, NES, IG Prakash D  on Saturday visited the ‘F’ Coy location of 67 Battalion CRPF at Mawlai bridge along with senior officers of the Force.  This Coy was attacked by miscreants during the recent riots which shook the city.   Protestors pelted stones, threw petrol bombs and injured a few CRPF troops.

A statement from the CRPF  said that their men exercised maximum restraint in spite of extreme provocation and they gave a fitting reply to the stone throwers by using minimum force and dispersing them without resorting to lethal weapons.

This act of restraint was praised by everyone including the Police and Army Commanders.

IGP NES  also felicitated eleven officers and men who had shown professional competence in dealing with the rioters.  The men felicitated were Pramod Kumar, Assistant Commandant, SM/GD Rohit Kumar, Insp/GD Salunke Raja Ram Natha, Insp/GD Mir Khan Bhai, ASI/GD K C Dalai, CT/GD Ajay Pratap, CT/GD Manish Kumar, CT/GD Kareppa B I, CT/GD Tarapad Roy, CT/GD Indra Mani, CT/WC Khargadhar Deka.

IGP said that all the CRPF Coy Camps are being reinforced with latest anti-riot equipments and ammunitions.  Coordination with Civil Police, Army and other security agencies was also stressed upon.
