State showcased at intl art exhibition in Delhi

Shillong: The international art exhibition “Abode of Clouds” which is a pioneer step of Indo-European Cross-cultural collaboration embedded in Meghalaya was inaugurated at India International Centre in New Delhi on June 8. 
The exhibition will continue till June 18.
The exhibition is being organised in collaboration with the Resident Commissioner, Meghalaya House, New Delhi, India International Centre, New Delhi, Picasso Pupils (An Art Society), Department of Arts & Culture, Government of Meghalaya and Embassy of the Slovak Republic in New Delhi.
The visual artist and curator of the exhibition Jana Bednarova from Slovakia and coordinator of Picasso Pupils, introduced the exhibition as the result of the art works created during the one month stay of international artists in Meghalaya via the programme ‘Artists’ Point’ international art residency.
She shared the concept of Artists’ Point, an international platform through which a society can be benefited by the cross-cultural exchange.
The exhibition showcased the art works created during the one month Artists’ Point residency which took place in 2016 and 2017 in Meghalaya.
Exhibited art works are  the visual record capturing the essence and spirit of Meghalaya’s beautiful nature and cultural diversity in the eyes of artists like Jana Bednárová (Slovakia), Juhikadevi Bhanjdeo (India), Dominik Bouma (Czech Republic), Eliška Fialová (Czech Republic), Zsofia Hajdu (Hungary), Barbora Chlastáková (Czech Republic), Moinuddin Moni (Bangladesh), Juliana Mrvová (Slovakia), Kateøina Pìkná (Czech Republic), Jan Pražan (Czech Republic), Gabriela Valls Schorr (Spain) and Michaela Vrbková (Czech Republic).
The photo and video documentation of the interaction of the artists with school children from the rural areas of East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya were also displayed in the exhibition.
 Traditional Rabha and Assamese folk songs on the traditional Khasi instrument ‘duitara’ was also showcased.
The programme was also graced by Frederick Kharkongor, Chief Electoral Officer of Meghalaya.
