ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh government on Wednesday came down heavily on Unemployed Arunachalee Engineers Association (UAEA) for resorting to act of arson during their 12-hour Capital bandh on Tuesday.

Bandh enforcers on Tuesday set on fire the office building of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (AAPSC) damaging seven rooms besides torching two official vehicles of the chairman.

Condemning the incident in strong terms, state government spokesman Tako Dabi on Wedesday said that whatever grievances the UAEA had could be resolved through talks.

“The association instead of staging protest through democratic means resorted to violence which is not expected from educated youths,” Dabi said.

Dabi, who visited the spot on Wednesday commented that the state government was ready to redress any grievances of any organisation but they must reciprocate it.

“Grievances can be resolved only through dialogue but not through agitation. Such act will send a wrong message to the outside world,” the spokesman added

The UAEA called the bandh in protest against alleged anomalies in the evaluation process of the question papers in the recently conducted written examination by APPSC for recruitment of Assistant Engineers in state’s PWD.

The association has demanded resignation of commission’s chairman and the members besides re-conduct of the exam.

Expressing serious concern over the shocking incident, citizens have criticized the district administration for failing to sense the possibility of such incidents which was called against the APPSC. (PTI)
