Landslides disrupt life in Jaintia Hills

JOWAI: Minor landslides occurred in few places of East and West Jaintia Hills.
Landslide at Sunapur has affected smooth flow of vehicular movement since Tuesday night and continued till Wednesday. 
EJH Superintendent of Police, S Nongtnger informed that the debris and mud that blocked the road has been cleared and vehicular movement has been restored to normal.
“Yesterday night landslide occurred at Ratachera, however, it’s cleared this morning. Again landslide hit the Sunapur area today, partially the road is cleared and vehicles can pass through in one way,” the SP said.
On the other hand, due to heavy rains landslide occurred at some places of Kharkhana village under Amlarem Sub-Division. The road connecting to the village was disrupted and it will take a day or two to clear the debris. 
A house in the village was also damaged after being hit by a big boulder that came down from the hills on Wednesday.
