Trains services remain disrupted due to landslides in Lumding – Badarpur hill section

GUWAHATI :   Train services continue to remain disrupted  since Thursday morning  hours in Lumding-Badarpur Hill Section in Assam under the Northeast Frontier Railway because landslides induced by heavy rainfall in the area  even as landslides claim two lives in Dima Hasao hill district of Assam.

The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), of the NF Railway, P J Sharma  informed that although restoration work had been completed in all six locations in the Lumding – Badarpur hill section where landslide had occurred on Thursday morning in the morning, train running could not be resumed due to fresh heavy landslide occurring between Bandarkhal and Damchara station about 36 kms ahead of Badarpur in Barak Valley. Restoration  work is still going on  in the newly-affected location and likely to take time.

 

As a consequence several trains have either been cancelled or short terminated. Silchar – Sealdah Kanchanjungha Express of June 15  remains partially cancelled between Silchar and Guwahati and will start from Guwahati for Sealdah as per the Time Table while Silchar – Guwahati Express was cancelled on Friday.

 

Agartala – Bangalore Cantonment  Humsafar Express of June 16  will remain partially cancelled between Agartala and Kamakhya. The train will start from Kamakhya on as per Time Table.

Silchar – Guwahati Fast Passenger was cancelled on Friday while Sealdah – Agartala Kanchanjungha Express which started from Sealdah on June 14  will remain partially cancelled between Guwahati and Agartala.

Anand Vihar – Agartala Rajdhani Express will be short terminated at Guwahati and will remain partially cancelled between Guwahati and Agartala. Accordingly, Agartala – Anand Vihar Rajdhani Express will start from Guwahati on June 19 as per Time Table.

The railway official informed that track restoration work is going on in the affected locations on round the clock. Divisional Railway Manager / Lumding along with Chief Bridge Engineer from Maligaon are at site monitoring the restoration work. Efforts are on to restart the train services as early as possible.
