Shillong: Governor Ganga Prasad on Friday emphasised on the need for good primary education in government schools, especially in rural areas for the state to produce responsible future leaders.
“It is our duty to provide the younger generation with quality education and strong moral values that will help them become an asset for the society and the nation as a whole,” he said.
Appreciating the zero investment innovations of Sri Aurobindo Society that focuses on empowering teachers to share and adopt best practices in teaching to transform education, he said that the country will reap the results of what and how much is invested in the children today.
“I am very pleased to know that Sri Aurobindo Society’s Zero Investment Innovations for Education Initiatives (ZIIEI) is making teachers and schools self-reliant in improving the learning outcomes of students and at the same time setting up a milestone for education revolution in the country,” he said. The governor said that if teachers adopt the ZIIEI methods, it would not only sharpen the leadership and academic skills of students but make schools social centres where children can learn about empathy and inter-personal relations.
“I hope that teachers in Meghalaya will adopt these methods and help students excel not only in studies but life as well,” he said.
It may be noted that Sri Aurobindo Society’s training for teachers will start next month following the MoU signed with the Meghalaya government last month.
