Night curfew relaxed further in Shillong, internet restored

SHILONGI:  With improvement of situation, night curfew has been further relaxed in the entire Shillong city including areas under Lumdiengjri police station while mobile internet services which was suspended for 48 hours on Saturday was restored from 3 P.M. on Monday.

An order issued on Monday by the East Khasi Hills district magistrate said that from Tuesday, the night curfew in all areas under Shillong agglomeration will come into force from 11 pm to 5 am. Till Monday, the night curfew in the whole Shillong city comes into force from 10 pm to 5 am.

Also the District Magistrate has relaxed the night curfew in areas under Lumdiengjri Police Station, which include Jaïaw, Mawkhar, Umsohsun, Riatsamthiah, Wahingdoh, Mission, Mawprem, Lumdiengjri, Lamavilla, Qualapatty, Wahthapbru, Sunny Hill, Cantonment, Mawlong Hat including Cantonment Beat House Areas (excluding localities beyond Umshyrpi bridge) will come into force from 9 pm to 5 am.

However in areas under Lumdiengjri police station including the commercial area of Bara Bazar and Motphran, the night curfew still commences from 8 pm till 5 am.

Mobile internet which was suspended on Saturday for 48 hours has been restored on Monday at 3 pm. The mobile internet services were first suspended in the state on June 1 last till June 13 because of the volatile situation prevailing in violence-affected Shillong areas.
